We get this question all the time in India! The truth is, we need to think about what we are trying to accomplish. A child will start talking around 1 by saying a few words, “mamma or papa” but this doesn’t mean we stop teaching them to speak, they will continue on all throughout elementary and high school studying their native language. The same goes for any subject, math, or even swimming. It is also important to keep in mind every child is different. Some children will have accomplished something if they finally enter the pool and not cry for a class, this accomplishment of over coming their fear is not to be viewed as a minor thing. Other children have no fear and can easily begin floating but will benefit from being in a fun class that also has directions they must listen and learn to follow to be safe and learn new skills. We are not a sports class but a child development class that incorporates, singing, music, colors, shapes, numbers, following orders, all while being in the pool and learning water safety and swim techniques.
